Why Are Ceramic Coatings So Expensive?
Ceramic Coatings are a great way to protect your vehicle, but why does it cost so much money to get one?!? We hear about them all over social media through ads and we understand most people don’t know about them. Well, we want to go a little deeper into that today and explain as best we can what it is and why they are priced the way they are.
Lets start with the biggest question: WHY ARE CERAMIC COATINGS SO EXPENSIVE?!?
Isn‘t that ridiculous to pay almost $2,000 for a higher version of wax on my car? Isn’t this only something rich people do to their cars? Not exactly…
We have found that a lot of our customers in Tuscaloosa don‘t completely understand what a ceramic coating is. The short answer is that ceramic coatings are the longest term paint protection that exists in the detailing industry. Ceramic coatings are a huge jump from waxes and sealants that only lasts a few months at most. Ceramics can last on average 5+ years and some can protect the lifetime of the vehicle.
Ceramic coatings bring a lot to the table: water resistance, chemical resistance, scratch resistance, ultra durable paint protection. The difference in coated and un-coated vehicles after a few years is staggering.
Now other than the extreme value of protection for the vehicle’s paint for the entire time you own it, where does the high price tag come from? The other costs come from labor, technical skill, and time preparing the vehicle to get coated in the first place. To get a vehicle ready for a coating takes a day of work minimum and can take up to 2 days of preparation. Also, to get the professional grade coatings, detailers have to go through serious training programs to get certified to even be able to get these coatings. So, at some level, we are charging for our expertise and certification in this field.
Ceramic coatings are changing the car world for both the consumers and the “car people” we all know about in our lives. If you have any questions about ceramic coatings or the process, we would love to answer them! Contact us here!
